Caring for lithium batteries

Milbay® LiFePO4 Lithium batteries used in fixed energy storage systems can be recharged up to 8000 times. The Recharge™ electric utility vehicle LiFePO4 battery system are rated at greater than 1500 80% to 100% D.O.D. recharges or 5 - 7 years daily recharging.

Small lithium ion batteries that use lithium polymer or 18650 cells like those used in electric bicycles and small portable devices are generally have a 6 month warranty. Actual life expectancy is around 600 80% to 100% D.O.D. recharge cycles or 2 - 3 years daily recharging.

Offering only 6 months warranty for small capacity lithium ion batteries is due to situations where the lithium ion battery could be charged once then discharged. The battery could then be left in a discharged state without use. This type of lithium battery care can lead to premature failure in this battery type.
