Intelligent Motor, Controller and Battery System


Smart vehicle controller- The Recharge™ technically advanced, all weather and very reliable intelligent controller continuously monitors and adjusts the motor, traction and the battery systems to provide the correct power and torque to efficiently drive the Recharge™. The controller manages other vehicle systems including the downhill descent control, energy recovery braking and some vehicle safety controls.

Reliable motor- The impressive power of the Recharge™ is delivered instantly by the maintenance free, ultra reliable AC brushless electric motor. The high quality motor design features new levels of efficiency and intelligent motor control for sustained power delivery over long distances for the life of the vehicle.

Intelligent Lithium (LiFePO4) battery system- Milbay opted for the superior safety and long useable life of LiFePO4 for the specially selected cells used in the Recharge™ zero maintenance battery system. The Recharge™ lightweight automotive battery system repeatedly outputs the high power demanded for sustained hill climbing and difficult off road terrain. The heavy duty integrated Battery Management System automatically protects the battery system from short circuits, over charging and importantly over discharging. The Recharge™ battery system is designed to last the life of the vehicle without user maintenance.

Easy recharge- The Recharge™ in vehicle battery charger connects to any standard Australian wall plug outlet (240 Volt AC 10 Amp) using a standard modern power lead like those used for desktop computers.

Steering, Suspension and Brakes


Easy steering- Driving the Milbay Recharge™ Electric Utility Vehicle is just like driving any small vehicle. The sports steering wheel is comfortable and easy to grip and the Electric Power Steering (EPS) provides for an effortless driving experience across gravel, mud, sand or asphalt surfaces.

Tough suspension- The Recharge™ is a serious off-road 4WD with a well proven suspension design. The four wheel independent dual control arm and coil over shock absorbers create a comfortable and smooth ride on any terrain and with high ground clearance the Recharge™ electric 4WD can go where others cannot.

Smart brakes- Milbay’s Recharge™ features front and rear hydraulic disc brakes with intelligent energy recovery control. During braking and steep descents the energy recovery system converts the vehicles kinetic energy to electricity that is used to recharge the intelligent battery system.

Smart Drive System


Built to last- The smart drive system that Milbay incorporate into our Recharge™ 4WD Electric Utility Vehicle features a mix of both new smart electronics and well proven heavy duty conventional components.

Gearbox and transfer case- The Recharge™ electric powered 4WD does not require a traditional gearbox, instead Reverse and Hi-Med-Low speed ranges are intelligently managed by the vehicle control system via user operated switches located conveniently in the dashboard switch panel assembly. Motor power is transferred to the wheels through the electronically controlled all-in-one rear differential and transfer case assembly.

Tail shaft- Milbay’s Recharge™ features a conventional tail shaft with heavy duty universal joints to transfer motor power from the transfer case to the front differential.

Front differential- The Recharge™ heavy duty front differential design features Electric Differential Lock System. Users simply push the button on the dash control that is exposed when the vehicle is in 4WD mode and the front differential is locked so that both front wheels are driving.
